Kawa Kon has yet ANOTHER new website to ad to the growing number of places you can go to get the same info as our homepage. Now all you have to remember is KKon.com! 2010 Convention Dates!
I apologize for the fact that the dates changed a bit between what I announced as our tentative dates at the convention and what we're actually doing, but that's why they're called "tentative".
Our dates for next year are March 12-14, 2010, and we will be at the Crowne Plaza in Clayton. You will be able to book your room and pre-register by the end of May.
L & Light's Date Night Contest Winners Announced!
Thank you to everyone who entered!
Our winners are Nefey and Hekate from Cape Girardeau. The two of them won not only because they were willing to travel TWO HOURS just to see the movie with L and Light but they also wrote the most amusing entry - a list of 20 reasons why they should be picked to go see L: Change the World on Wednesday, including such gems as:
"we are super ninja"
and
"We are willing to eat chocolate *oh the torture*"
The entire touching piece ended with:
"So uhm, you knew this was coming...
*gets down on knees and begs*
I IMPLORE YOU! WE LOVE DEATH NOTE! And uhm, we're certainly not boring...X{D
No, far from that, I assure you.
I promise not to glomp you.
I will restrain myself.
Getting sued and whatnot isn't really my thing..."
Well, glomp away guys, because you won!
Again, the contest is sponsored by VIZ Media (the tickets) and Kawa Kon (the dinner). Excerpts of the winning entry are used with permission.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I would like to thank every single person who attended and enjoyed Kawa Kon 2009! All of you made it a great success.
Here are some of the stats for the year: attendance - around 1000 (we gave out 1027 badges), volunteers and staff - 61, dealers and artists - 26, all guests made it (even Cam!), and we rocked the house with over 200 people entering the rave as it was beginning.
The Best in Show winners for the masquerade were "Nananananananana Batman".
Best of all, we're doing it again next year! Oh, yeah, and for all of you Boys' Love fans out there, we're doing Bishie Con this November at the Holiday Inn Southwest-Viking.
On April 25-26, join Mikhail and I at Cape Comic Con where we will be running anime and manga programming.
There are more events coming this summer and fall, including pre-Bishie Con parties at several Midwest conventions and cosplay raves featuring DJ L-Des and DJ Ataru from this year's Mech no Techno Rave.
Theme for 2010: Matsuri!
Although we haven't yet chosen the food to go with it, our 2010 Kawa Kon theme is Matsuri! "Matsuri" is Japanese for "festival", and what a festival it will be!
Kawa Kon 2010 will feature Japanese historical, cultural, and pop cultural events such as a "Sports Day" team contest, Bon Odori dancing, and karaoke. Hurry back for more information about our events for 2010!
